Getting the Reinvention Lab paid for by your employer
Most companies have a learning and development budget, and most managers would rather spend it on something that changes how you work than on another certificate. The Lab is built to be easy to approve: one fixed price for the year, a monthly rhythm, and outputs you can put in front of your team.
Here's what you'll need, and a message you can send today.
Your invoice
When you join, you'll receive a receipt from Stripe by email. If your finance team needs a formal invoice with your company name, address and tax number, reply to your welcome email with those details and I'll send one within two working days.
One invoice or twelve. If your company would rather approve a single amount, choose the annual plan ($1,260): one payment, one invoice, twelve months of membership. On the monthly plan, each $149 instalment comes with its own receipt, dated when it's paid.
Budget years. If this year's budget is nearly spent, the annual fee can be dated into the next one; or if you need to use this year's allowance before it closes, it can be invoiced now. Say which when you ask for the invoice.
The guarantee helps the decision. Every membership has a 30-day money-back guarantee, so your manager isn't being asked to bet on it sight unseen.
The case for your manager
Your manager doesn't need to know the Lab aligns with your goals. They need to know what changes in the work, and when.
Three things make this easy to say yes to:
It runs on real work.
The course is worked through on one live piece of your actual business, and the monthly calls are where you bring the decisions you’re facing right now. Your manager sees results as you go, not after a course ends.
Something comes back to the team.
You finish the course with a Reinvention Blueprint (what to automate, augment, delegate, stop, protect and create), an AI operating system built around your role, and a Co-Intelligence Canvas. All of it is designed to be reused by colleagues who weren’t in the room.
It keeps paying for twelve months.
Most training is a day that fades. This is a year of monthly coaching calls, a fortnightly briefing on what’s actually changing, and guides and tools as they’re released. When the landscape shifts, you still have somewhere to think it through.
Lead with the problem your team has, in your manager's words. Then the outputs. Then the price. Keep it short.
The email
Copy, fill in the brackets, send. Cut anything that doesn't fit how you and your manager talk.
Hi [Manager],
I'd like to join The Reinvention Lab, a 12-month membership on redesigning how we work with AI: a self-paced course, monthly live group coaching calls, and a fortnightly briefing on what's changing. I'd like to put it through the L&D budget.
Why now: [one or two sentences in your own words about what's changing in your role or the team's work. For example: "We've rolled out Copilot across the team, but we haven't changed how the work itself gets done, and I'd like to be the person who works that out for us." Or: "My role is shifting from doing the analysis to directing and reviewing it, and I want to design that deliberately rather than by default."]
What I'd bring back:
- A redesigned version of how I actually work, tested in the business: what to automate, what to delegate to AI, what to stop doing, and where my judgment needs to stay central.
- A working AI operating system built around my role, which I can document and share with the team.
- The frameworks the Lab uses (a canvas for deciding how people and AI should divide work, a reinvention blueprint and an experiment protocol), which we could reuse across the team.
- A monthly live coaching call for the year, where I can bring our real decisions and come back with a worked answer rather than a theory.
The programme is run by Anwulika Okonjo, who designed AI learning programmes for over 250,000 public servants at Apolitical and has worked inside an AI product company. The calls are live online, 60 to 90 minutes once a month, and everything is recorded. Details are here: https://anwulika.com/theworkahead/reinvention-lab.
The cost is $1,260 for the year, invoiced to the company (or $149 a month over 12 months). There's a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if it isn't what I expect we lose nothing.
Happy to talk it through. If you'd rather I put this in a one-pager, say so.
Thanks, [Your name]
P.S. If you think [colleague] or [colleague] would benefit too, it might be worth asking about a team arrangement, so we come back with shared language rather than one person's notes.
Something to show for it
You'll receive a certificate of completion when you finish the six course modules, and your Reinvention Blueprint and AI operating system are yours to share, so you have something to file with the expense and something to put in front of the team.
If you hit a snag
Reply to any email from me, or write to anwulika@changingpeople.co. If your finance team has a vendor form, a purchase-order process or a question about the UK entity the invoice comes from, send it over and I'll deal with it directly.
